Kufri

Kufri is situated in the Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Kufri is a small hill station situated 19 kms from Shimla on the National Highway 22. Tourists who visit Shimla usually include Kufri in their travel itinerary as Kufri is well known for its trekking and hiking trails. Lovers of thrill and adventure visit Kufri for skiing and tobogganing in winter when the land is enveloped in snow. Kufri along with Shimla was once part of the Kingdom of Nepal. It was the British who discovered this beautiful region in 1819 and turned it into their summer retreat. This serene hill resort has a number of beautiful places one can visit for their scenic beauty. The fresh and invigorating air spiced with the fragrance of pines and the enchanting scenery make Kufri a popular tourist destination.  There is a Himalayan Nature Park and close by is the Indira Tourist Park. Indira Tourist Park offers yak or pony rides to tourists and provides some panoramic views of the surroundings. It is exhilarating to hike through the wooded forest to reach Mashru Peak. Just 6 km from Kufri, on the Hindustan- Tibet road is Fagu situated at a height of 2450 m, providing breath taking views of the Himalayan ranges and valleys. Katir which is 13 km from Fagu has a camping site for those who enjoy camping. Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, and one of the most popular hill stations in India, is just 19 kms travel from Kufri.
