Pratyahara

Sva – sva – vishaya – asamprayoge chittasya svarupa – anukaara aiva indriyanaam pratyahaarah

    – ‘pratyahara is the withdrawal of senses from their respective objects’, says Patanjali, the great sage of India who wrote Yoga Sutra.

The sadhaka practices dissociating his mind from the inputs of the sense organs. Success in this endevour enables him to connect with his individual consciousness. The mind will have to be brought under complete control before he can achieve its absolute detachment from the senses.
