On January 11th of 2010, three renowned personalities in their own fields were given Doctor of Letters (D. Litt) degree by the University of Kerala at a function held in Trivandrum. The video shows veteran film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, popular Malayalam film actor Mammooty and Mridangam maestro Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman receiving the D. Litt degrees of Kerala University from the Honourable Governor of Kerala R. S. Gavai. Minister for Education, Kerala M. A. Baby and Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Dr. A. Jayakrishnan were also present during the function.

The three were honoured with D. Litt taking into account their excellence and contribution in their chosen fields. It was an occasion, attended by people from many walks of life. You can also listen to the speeches delivered by the recipients of the degree.
