In a letter written to the director Mehboob Khan, Cecil B.DeMille, the renowned American director/producer, defined the film as a masterpiece of lighting composition.
The story pivots around the arrival of the Mughal emperor Babar in India and his relationship with the Rajputs whom he defeated. The film stars Ashok Kumar, Chandra Mohan, Nargis and Veena in lead roles. Written by Agha Jani Kashmiri the music of the film was composed by Ghulam Haider. Cinematography of the film was handled by Faredoon A. Irani.
