Balivadham Part 3- Kutiyattam

This video presents Balivadham, an eventful citation in Ramayana which is rendered as a part of Kutiyattam play by renowned artistes in this dance form. Kutiyattam is a well-known art form which originated in Kerala around 2000 years ago. This dance has its own tradition and historical significance.

Bali, the ruler of Kishkinta (the land of monkey men) and the son of Lord Indra (Lord of Heavan) has a misunderstanding with his brother Sugriva. As a result of the enmity, Sugriva’s wife is forced to become the consort of Bali. In grief, Sugriva seeks the help of Lord Rama to kill Bali.
