Bharatanatyam – a brilliant classical dance that reflects the cultural splendour of India. Bharatanatyam dancers often embellish themselves with at least ten pieces of jewellery such as necklaces, chokers, bracelets, waist bands, earrings, nose rings, and three hair ornaments.

The dancer wears two brooch-like ornaments chandran and suryan to the left and right of the central parting of the hair. The chandran and Sooryan symbolize the moon and sun respectively.
