Bamboo Shoot Fry

Here’s a fairly simple recipe for fried bamboo shoot that can get you started on trying your hand at some Indian food. There are lots and lots more coming up!


Serves: 3 - 4

Ingredients:
One-foot long tender bamboo shoot
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp fenugreek
4 dry red chillies
1 cup oil
Salt to taste


Method : 
Scale the hard exterior of the bamboo shoot off. Wash and cut the shoot into small pieces. Add baking soda and mix well. Fry the fenugreek seeds and red dry chillies and add salt to taste. Put the bamboo shoot pieces into the pan with the above mixture and cook on a slow fire. When the bamboo shoot dries up, add 2 tbsp of water and stir well.

Serve hot and crisp.
