Ganga at Gangotri

Ganga is known as Bhageerati till Devaprayag where it meets River Alakananda and flows from there as Ganga.

A muddy coloured Bhageerati is what it turned out to be in September 2008. It was too muddy, especially towards the bridge and the Gangotri temple area, instead of the crystal clear, sparkling blue waters at other stretches. Yet, it was wonderful to watch the Bhageerati flowing down aggressively amidst big boulders, polished, round rocks and pepples at Gangotri in Uttarakhand state, India.
