Dakshineswar Kali Temple, a Navaratna (nine jewels) temple devoted to goddess Kali, is located on the bank of Ganga, the holy river of Hindus, in Kolkata. It is one of the renowned pilgrim centres in Kolkata city in West Bengal state, India. The temple was built by Rani Rashmoni in 19th century.

The place has witnessed another event which had a out profound influence on the spiritual as well as social history of India. It was here that Sree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa attained his spiritual vision and also met Narendranath, who later became famous as Swami Vivekananda and played a great role in taking the philosophy of India across the continents of the world.
