Vinda Karandikar, Marathi writer

Govind Vinayak Karandikar better known as Vinda Karandikar (23 August 1918 – 14th March 2010) was a famous Marathi poet, essayist, critic, translator and writer. Karandikar's poetic works include Svedgangā (River of Sweat) (1949), Mrudgandha (1954), Dhrupad (1959), Jātak (1968), and Virupika (1980).

As a translator he has translated The Poetics of Aristotle and Shakespeare’s King Lear into Marathi. He was awarded Jnanpith, the highest literary award in India, in 2003.
