Dry Meat cooked with Ginger and Garlic

Though the foreigner may mistake Indian food to comprise only vegetarian fare because of India’s non-violence and Yoga, its spicy non-vegetarian dishes are among the best in the world.

Serves: 6 - 8

Ingredients :

1 kg of meat, chopped
4 tbsp of cooking oil
2-inch ginger piece, crushed
10 flakes of garlic, crushed
2 bay leaves
2 tsp of garam masala
1 tsp of turmeric powder
1 cup of curd
Salt to taste

Method :

Beat the curd with the salt and turmeric powder. Pour it on top of the meat pieces and mix well. Allow to stand for half an hour in a cool place. Grind the garlic and ginger together and fry them with the bay leaves. Add the marinated meat pieces and stir-fry till light brown. Pour a cup of hot water on the meat and cover. Let it simmer for 20 minutes. Then uncover and add the garam masala. Stir well and take it off the flame.

Serve with boiled rice.
