World Heritage Sites of India

India has 27 UNESCO world heritage sites. A world heritage site is considered to be of outstanding value to humanity and human culture. The world heritage site programme was formed with the international treaty, The Convention concerning the protection of world’s cultural and natural heritage, adopted by the general conference of UNESCO on 1972. The world heritage list includes 851 properties around the world.
