Eraniel Palace ruins at Padmanabhapuram

Eraniel Palace, the once seat of power of the erstwhile princely state of Travancore, near Padmanabhapuram is located in an overgrown compound, spread over 3.5 acres. The palace is now in a dilapidated state.

This video has for you the surroundings of Eraniel Palace. One can enter the palace through the padippura or the entrance gateway. The fallen wooden rafters and the wild vegetation have blocked the entry beyond the padippura. The small water pond in the north eastern quadrant of the palace once served as the royal bath.

The main palace building adheres to the traditional building code, which was a complex combination of astronomy, astrology, religion, social and cultural aspects, as well as magnificent building technology.
